This is a scene from one of my favorite movies of all time. The quote that Peter O’Toole uses at 1:23 in the clip is what I posted this clip for. Watch that part, and then read the original quote from Dr. Robert Jastrow–Astronomer and former director of the Mount Wilson observatory once led by Edwin Hubble. He authored a book called: “God and the Astronomers.” Although he stated that he was personally agnostic about “religious matters,” he was obviously aware that there was astronomical evidence leading to a Biblical view of the origin of the world. I will put his quote after the video clip.

“For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries.”
